Installation Recommendations
- We highly recommend that you inspect your Diamond
Surfaces USA™ materials before using them to help eliminate
unnecessary efforts and expenses. The plastic film should be
removed when inspecting the material.
- Ready-to-Install 3cm material is recommended to
simplify the fabrication and installation process, if determined
appropriate for the situation.
- Darker colors require more maintenance to keep the
appearance. Darker colors will show scratches and
imperfections more readily than lighter colors and should be used with
caution in areas with moderate to high use.
- Diamond Surfaces USA™ should be kept away
from heat, and heat barriers should be used to separate Diamond
Surfaces USA™ from heat sources. Prolonged exposure
to temperatures above 150 degrees Fahrenheit may cause damage to the
material.
- Temperature fluctuations can cause Diamond Surfaces
USA™ products to expand and contract. Special
consideration needs to be taken into account for the expansion and
contraction of the materials, especially when considering stress
points. Materials should be sufficiently undersized to avoid
stresses caused by expansion and contraction. In general,
materials fitted between two walls or stationary structures will need
to be undersized roughly 1/8 inch to ½ inch per 10 feet of
length.
- Make sure that the Diamond Surfaces USA™
material is level and flush with the support structure when
installing. A grid system, as opposed to a solid support
structure, is recommended to dissipate heat. A support grid can be
constructed out of plywood or MDF. 100% silicone can be used
to attach the support grid every 12 to 18 inches. Make sure
to allow for wood expansion and contraction. Particleboard or
any other materials that can be affected by water should not be used
for the support grid.
- Double check any measurements before gluing or cutting
- Positioning joints in inconspicuous areas helps to
keep the seamless appearance of the Diamond Surfaces USA™
material. For best results, seams should be placed in low
stress areas. Keep seams away from sinks, stove tops, and
heat producing objects.
- Be careful not to scratch the surface when installing
- Wear proper safety gear when installing the Diamond
Surfaces USA™ material including but not limited to safety
glasses and a dust mask
- Save any extra pieces of the solid surface in a safe
place in case the Diamond Surfaces USA™ material needs to be
repaired in the future. Diamond Surfaces is a renewable and
repairable product. Like all solid surface products, Diamond
Surfaces colors may vary from sheet to sheet and from batch to batch
and from samples due to the required manufacturing process.
- No recommendations are given for free standing
overhangs of material. Consult an engineer for your specific
application.
- Diamond Surfaces USA™ materials may be
inappropriate in outdoor situations. Materials can fade or
discolor due to outdoor elements. In general, the materials
can be renewed with cleaning and/or sanding. Darker colors
are more likely to be significantly changed due to outdoor conditions
than are lighter colors. Outdoor use is not covered under the
warranty.
- Diamond Surfaces USA™ ¼"
materials are recommended for use in vertical applications only.
- All chemicals and substances that may come into
contact with Diamond Surfaces USA™ materials should be tested
by the user to determine the suitability for each unique
application. Keep in mind that almost all stains can be
removed with an abrasive pad.
